Swim Step 2 - Water Exploration
"I'm ready to paddle and splash!"

Asked for by name, the original SwimWays Swim Sweater helps kids explore the water with confidence! The Swim Sweater supports two pre-swimming positions; floating upright, or leaning forward to paddle. The stable, circular design rides high on your child's chest for maximum stability, and the heavy-duty rubber inner tube has a no-leak valve (the same kind on a bicycle tire) for security.

  • Stable, circular torso design rides high on child's chest for extra stability.
  • Helps kids learn to balance and paddle in the water - important pre-swimming skills.
  • High quality, brightly colored fabric is soft and comfortable.
  • Great for use during potty training.

Ages: 2-4 years

Made in China

WARNING: This is not a lifesaving device. Do not leave child unattended while product is in use. Always stay in the pool within arm's reach of child.

Product Instructions

  2. Have your child step into the center of the Swim Sweater.
  3. Carefully lift the Swim Sweater up to your child's shoulders and slip on sleeves, one arm at a time.

Moms who are thinking ahead to summer and have little people. I have spent so much money over the years for my kids and now my grand babies to have something they were safe in and that was comforting as well as comfortable to them. I found this one last year. It works very well. You inflate like you would a tire because it is a real inter tube and not the cheap stuff most floaties are made of. It doesn't have anything to pinch between the legs and the fit is so snug that you really have to tug it off when they are done. It holds them up nice and straight in the water instead of pushing their face in or tipping them back. Also because of the solid ring ,it gives them a little barrier between them and the water. My grand babies quickly went from "hold me, hold me" to "let go I got this". Only lesson I learned was not to leave it outside to dry because apparently the bright colors attract birds and they sat on them and punctured them. Wouldn't have thought of it had I not seen it happen.Just purchased two more for this summer but as always this is not a baby sitter never leave a little one alone but it is a great tool for introducing them to the water. If you could make the ring a little more resistant to puncture and somehow a way to remove the cover for repairing the tube, then I would give it five stars.

I have to agree with Bonnie. While the concept is great this product does not hold up. Between my daughter and I we've bought 5 of these just this summer. All have deflated except for the most current one. It's only a matter of time for that one. I love the product but it definitely needs tweaking.

Great product, my grandson used this last year and he loved it. Now he's swimming and I think this tube helped him feel more at ease in the water. The swim ways version also has sleeves which helped keep his shoulders from burning, which is a nice feature.

The concept is fantastic but the product is inferior. I bought 5 on June 1st. By July 4th they were all deflated. Not one of them hold air. So disappointing because the grandkids loved them. In the 4 weeks that one of them held up our 4 year old grandson almost learned to swim. So if you need a product for 2 weeks buy the swim sweater, but like I said 5 out of 5 that I purchased were useless after a month.

This is the best pool item I could have for my 18 month old son! It gives him the freedom and confidence to swim without us having to hold onto him constantly. He swims back and forth, is able to get in and out of the pool, and even jump in. We absolutely love it and highly recommend it!!!

We have used this type of product in the past, but were suprised this version could not be inflated with the bicycle pump - you must take it to a gas station with a non-threading air inflator. When I first called for customer service, they told me to squeeze the valve and blow, but of course that will not work with a center-valve plunger (bicycle-tire-type). So if you see the instructions to use a bike-pump, disregard - you need a non-threading air pump source. Otherwise, seems great.

I grew up with my brothers using this and have always wanted them for my girls. My mom found them at a store near her and brought them to FL for vacation and uses them whenever my girls visit with her and they go swimming. I used to dread swimming with them but finally found the place I can purchase this item so I can let them have more freedom around the pool. My Mom is still paranoid having them run around and jumping in (ages 6 and 3) but I know that when grandma's not around, the grandchildren can play with this. Helpful tips, it does require a bike inflater to blow it up. It is tight so it's best to blow it up all the way then let the air out so that it fits to your child. Gotta put it on like pants then put shirt over arms and shoulders. It's very tight and difficult for (my) children to slip out the bottom even if they tried. Have fun!

I BOUGHT THIS FOR MY 21 MO OLD GRANDDAUGHTER, IT IS A MUST FOR ANYONE WHO HAS A TODDLER AND A POOL. SHE CAN NOW GO FROM ONE END OF THE POOL TO THE OTHER. SHE LOVES THE FREEDOM IT ALLOWS HER AND WE LOVE THE FACT WE KNOW SHE IS SAFE. YOU JUST CAN'T PUT A PRICE ON THAT.

I originally began using the swim sweater when my oldest was a tot, so almost 30 years ago. Due to the swim sweater, my kids all became very comfortable in the pool and all became great swimmers with great confidence. My sisters used other swim aids for their children and I was always petrified the kids were going to drown! I am so happy swim sweater is still around because we are soon to have grandchildren, and they will certainly have swim sweaters at their disposal. For people who have issues with the item riding up around their childs neck, they have not fit the item correctly, because it can't be too tight to put on and then ride up around the neck. So you have to inflate it fully and yes, it will fit snugly as it should. Great item!

Used only once and it sprung a hole. Pretty scary seeing as how this is a device to help children learn to swim. The hole wasn't a slow leak either, it deflated in a matter of seconds. DON'T BUY! ***Response from SwimWays: Hi Alena, we are very sorry to hear about this problem with the swim sweater you purchased. Please call our customer service line and we will assist you: 1-800-889-7946 ext 222. We take any potential product defects with our Swim Steps line seriously, and appreciate your feedback.***

I got this for my 3 year girl old that is 27 pounds. I thought this would be better because the swim vest did not work and a lift jacket flips her on her back. This ring floats all the up to her head and she cannot keep it level enough to swim safely. I have to hold onto her the whole time which defeats the purpose of the swim sweater. The ring is also difficult to put on and take off because of the tightness and the tube has to be inflated using a pump for a tire. We drove 3 miles to a gas station to fill up the tube when we were using it hotel pool because we did not know to inflate it beforehand. This takes up a lot of room in a vehicle too because it cannot be easily deflated. I would not recommend this for anyone.

30 years ago I bought my first swim sweater. I continued buying for our three children, my sisters six children, and now am looking for one for my grandson. I was never crazy about the swimmies, but my children wore the swim sweater until they got all of the swimming fundamentals down which was easy with the range of movement that the swim sweater allows. A MUST HAVE FOR EVERY FAMILY WITH A POOL!!!!
