Business Development Manager

Swimways Corporation, located in Virginia Beach, VA, is a leader in outdoor recreational products. Swimways has joined with Spin Master to create an outdoor Global Business Unit. Our mission is making free time more fun through innovation! We currently have an opening at our Virginia Beach, VA location for a Business Development Manager.

Our ideal Business Development Manager is ambitious in nature, detail oriented, comfortable working with small dealers to large national retailers, works well with cross-functional teams, can manage independent sales reps and is passionate about winning at the shelf. They establish rapport easily, are organized and adept at time management skills.

This position will call and service all responsible sales accounts, work with the Sales department and other Swimways departments in achieving all desired goals and objectives in a cost-effective and profit-driven environment. This position also provides experience and growth opportunities that may enable advancement to a higher level position within the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Focus on driving sales with our nationwide Dealer Partners and the Direct to Store (DTS) program at Walmart.
  • Responsible for managing a network of independent sales reps throughout the country while at the same time overseeing the national DTS program including Virginia Beach and the surrounding areas.
  • Understand the primary objectives, goals and obstacles that the accounts face and what actions we need to take to meet their needs and gain market share with Dealers and Walmart DTS.
  • Establishing strong working relationships with both internal and external contacts including sales representatives, buyer, merchandisers and Walmart store management
  • Conduct regular store visits to identify opportunities, achieve superior in-store presence and secure DTS orders
  • Create store-specific assortments to meet customer needs
  • Analyze retail POS data and take necessary actions
  • Create item specific sell sheets and distribute to sales team
  • Conduct product training for sales reps and store associates
  • Prepare routine and special sales reports reflecting customer activities and results
  • Work with national merchandising team to assure proper coverage with merchandisers as well as managing some merchandisers
  • Support forecasting/Inventory management
  • Assess, evaluate and recommend industry trade shows that will increase our dealer business and give us a good return on investment for each show
  • Assist, coordinate and help execute the annual Swimways national sales meeting. Travel is required

Responsibilities

  • Degree in business or other related field of study
  • 10+ years sales and territory management experience
  • Must take initiative, be conscientious and provide complete follow through on all aspects of responsibilities
  • Self-motivated, comfortable with working independently, ability to demonstrate flexibility, excellent time management and communication skills
  • Strong, proven cross-departmental communication skills
  • Complete understanding of effective merchandising
  • Experience in analyzing reports and drawing conclusions/ recommendations preferred
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong PC skills including experience with Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Marketing background is a plus
